So in the midst of a pandemic this little sweetness joined our family. Meet Skye. She joined us this spring in the end of April. Skye is a VERY energetic German Wirehaired Pointer. You haven't had a sloppy puppy kiss until you have gotten a kiss from a whiskered pup after they just got done drinking. WET!

So for ease of letting new pup and old beagle out to potty, we decided to put in a small fence around our back deck and back door. Now if you have read back in the early posts round about March 15, 2010 (there is a wonderful pic of my little A who just turned 4, trying to dig up a gate post) we have come full circle. This however is not fully fencing in our entire back yard, which has gotten much bigger in the last 10 years.
I would say it was well rounded.
Today is a tidbit day, nothing big, just tidbit thoughts.

1. I have a high schooler! With so much talk about what this fall will look like with school and COVID-19, it makes me stop and think, I actually have a child who will now be a Freshman! How does that happen so quickly. Crazy!

2. Long Legs - I do not have them. The kids have been doing a lot of running this summer, one - for something to do and two - in hopes that there will be some kind of Cross County this fall. I don't necessarily trust people out in the world and there is no way that I would ever be able to keep up with the kids "running" so I have been following in the car. Man, my girls are nothing but legs and they most definitely get that from their father. Not looking forward to shopping for pants when the weather changes.

3. Former stay at home orders and global pandemics lead to getting a lot of projects done around the acreage. I will speak more to that in future posts.

4. Chipmunks are NOT my friends! They like my garden too much.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-90338715291104237512018-03-23T13:27:00.001-05:002018-03-23T13:27:59.346-05:00A Boy's Hunting Dream

The 20th of April can not come fast enough for our Adin Boy. For his 12th birthday we got him his own hunting buddy. She is a beautiful little Chocolate Lab who he has tentatively named Iris, the Greek goddess of sea and sky. The 20th is when we will get to go and pick her up as she was just born on March 2nd.

We don't know which one she is as we have 7th (last) pick of the females. No matter which one our Iris is, she is going to be a well loved pup. (Maybe not so much by the cat! Poor Buddy the cat, first Freya and now Iris.) More pictures to come, don't you just want to snuggle them all?
Our feathery girls are getting older and so we are looking to add to our flock this spring. As the Poultry project leader, I have tasked the kids with researching the breeds that they want to get next. They have to look at what will go best with our aging flock, what will meet our needs, what will work with our climate and what they want in a show bird as well.
This has been a fun project so far and the kids have really gotten into it. Both Elle and Eliza have written & typed up reports that they are putting in their record books and Adin is bemoaning the fact that the site we are using is pretty much out of Silkies and Polish breeds. He is loving those fluffy unique birds. I guess we'll have to order those come fall for next spring. Wow, who knew.
E & L both want leghorns, one white and one light brown along with an Easter Egger and a Silver Spangled Hamburg. Why do I have a feeling that Hamburg will end up with a name closely related to hamburger.
When chicks finally arrive (once actually ordered) we'll be sure to post pictures. They will be taking up residence in the sunroom again as our first flock did. What is your favorite chicken breed? Mine is still and always the forever sweet Buff Orpington.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-32597370682070479512018-01-11T15:12:00.000-06:002018-01-11T15:14:41.013-06:00Life As We Now Know ItLife is different around our little corner of the world. Let's see what we have been up to:

1. I am now a RN for our county's Public Health. (Actually, I am the only RN here at Public Health.)

2. The kiddos are older,
A is a 6th grader, he loves running Cross Country and any 5K's he can get entered in. He is looking to run a 1/2 marathon this year. Anything outdoors and dealing with hunting is right up his alley.

L is now Eliza and is a 4th grader. She also loves running, but really is getting into basketball. She is still an animal lover, but also is getting into crocheting.

E is still E and is also a 4th grader who did her first 10K in October of 2017 with her Auntie. Watch out for this one. She is also a fierce basketball player and is looking to play softball with her sister again this summer. E loves hanging out with littles and enjoys any time she gets to hang out with her miracle 2 1/2 year old cousin Lilly who was born at 27 weeks.

3. We have Freya back in the house, lucky dog who is pushing her limits again.

4. Dear hubby is looking to the not so distant future of retiring (couple years), and is hoping to start up his Taxidermy again to some degree.

5.I WILL have a garden again this year that grows more than weeds.

6. I have become the co-general leader for our 4-H club and the Chair of our education committee at church. (where do I have the time to do these things?)

7. Oh, and I have entered the world of Gluten Fee. This is not by choice, but by bowel necessity!

I could go on, but this is what consumes our lives right now. I know I have said this in the past, but I hope to do a better job recording our lives, our memories, our ups and downs. We'll see where God takes us.

I have fallen off the face of the blogging world. I have not blogged since April of 2014 and have been reading other blogs either. My excuse...... Nursing School! I knew it would be busy and I knew it would be hard, but UFF DA! Yep, I'm letting my Norwegian heritage show and I'm proud of it. So I have been on winter break since the middle of December and will be heading back to school on Monday. This week I started working on pocket med cards that I can carry with me on clinical days. I do truly love school and the crew in our semester is awesome.

You would think that being on break from school for a month would give me time to actually do some blogging?!?! Not so much. Which leads me into the title; Out Like a Lion, In Like a Lion. We often hear something like this centered around March, but the end of the year?

Well, 2014 most definitely went out like a lion roaring away. My 2001 Saturn (the first car I ever owned) with 237,000 miles took a dump and we needed to buy a new car. Thankfully My brother-in-law had one that he was selling. Yay!!! The pump on our wood boiler died and needed to be replaced. We needed by buy some propane (only used as back-up for the boiler), and the fan on our furnace left for vacation without us. I discovered that our son has an irregular heart beat, which turned out to be benign and normal for some kids (Thanks God!) Then the truck took a dump. So December has been a bit expensive even above and beyond Christmas and a bit scary. It went out like a LION.

2015 hasn't been too bad, but we are in the deep freeze again here in Northern WI along with other parts of the Midwest. It isn't the coldest, but it is cold enough that the kids do not have school and it is too cold to kick them outside to play. We are filling the boiler more than normal and we have to keep thawing the chicken's water. Life in our little corner. Hope the lion decides to take a nap.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-48245170777207303212014-04-17T09:48:00.000-05:002014-04-17T09:48:09.617-05:00Playing in the SnowHello Family and Friends, Jeremiah here.
I got to play in the snow today. Yesterday and last night we got over 12 inches (30.48 cm). Before it started snowing there was no snow on this deck. It came down so fast and we didn't even get an early release from school. I really thought that we would get out early (it would have been my 1st snow day).

Adin, Elle and Lizzy do not have school today, tomorrow or Monday because of Easter, so that is why we are home and get to play in the snow. I was so excited to go sledding with Lizzy, but we had to find the sled first. It was buried under all that snow right up next to the house.

Tonight I get to go to a Seder Meal at Adin's church for Holy Week. I'll post more tomorrow about that, but right now, I'm going back out in the snow to play. It is cold, but fun.

I am excited to announce that for the next few weeks we will be having a guest blogger from time to time. His name is Jeremiah and he is from Australia. Jeremiah isn't your average kid, he is special and he is "flat."

My son's 2nd grade class read the book "Flat Stanley" and made themselves flat. We chose to send "Flat Adin" to a special family I worked with many years ago at Luther Park in Danbury. They have a son Adin's age and a 4 yr old daughter. I think the world of this family and hope to someday see them all again in person. Anyway.... Adin went on his journey to the Green Family and now "Flat Adin" returned this morning with his new friend "Flat Jeremiah". So as an easy way to let his family and friends know about his visit here to Northern Wisconsin (where the snow just doesn't seem to want to leave this year) I am letting "Jeremiah" post on my blog.

Here you go "Jeremiah," it is all yours.

Hello family and friends back home, Jeremiah here. I have arrived here in Danbury/Webster Wisconsin, U.S.A. safely and a bit chilly. Adin's mum, Anna is right, the snow doesn't want to leave. We are supposed to get anywhere from 4-12 inches (10.16-30.48 cm) of snow tonight and tomorrow. That is crazy. Here are a couple of pictures of me when I first got here.

1. I see grass in our yard.

2. I still see some 4 foot piles of snow.

3. Lots of rain helps in melting of the snow.

4. Just when you thought the snow was over..... we are under a Winter Storm Watch.

5. The poor deer are wandering into the rye fields to eat the sweet green leaves. Amazing how that is the only green thing out there.

6. Deer hunting in the fall is going to be sparse, no or very little doe tags. We are going to have to rethink our meat supply for the next winter.

7. I have little green things sprouting in my sun room. :) Now if the snow would really "go gone and stay gone!" as my kids say.

8. Started another blog to help me on a personal journey. halfofmeforhealth.blogspot.com
Well I think those are all of my tidbits for today. Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-82192211396561895432014-04-11T14:47:00.004-05:002014-04-11T14:47:59.431-05:00Spring Fun

One of the things that I have always loved about spring is the mud puddles. Even up here in sand country with the spring rains and the melting snow we occasionally have puddles. I still find it fun to make channels for the water to drain from one puddle to another and then off to where ever it will be absorbed into the earth faster.
Us adults can play in muddles too, as my son has called them. This is how I spent my 5 minutes while I was waiting for my kids to get home on the bus yesterday.
How do you enjoy the spring?Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-47690098122929711352014-04-05T11:27:00.001-05:002014-04-05T11:27:42.292-05:00April Showers.... Um.... April Blizzards? It just doesn't seem like April in Wisconsin without a blizzard at some point. Yes this winter is getting long, but it's days are numbered. Thursday and Friday were lovely this week, well not really. I think in the 18 hour period we got well over 12 inches of snow (my sister got over 18 - so I'm not complaining) but now the sun is shining and the slush and puddles are forming and the snow piles are shrinking. The blizzardy drive on Friday morning is now only a memory and I am thinking green growth. I have some seeds sitting in my sun room that are itching to get planted and start growing. I had planned on starting them a few weeks ago, but there was just too much snow outside. Now, I don't care. Gardening is relaxing for me, my escape, and I need an escape right now. Is anyone trying anything new this year? I am going to try sugar beets. Just for something interesting and to see if I can actually make sugar. I know it can be done and is done, obviously, but I want to see if "I" can do it. If it doesn't work, I'll just feed them to the deer or chickens or what ever other critter wants them, "Pigs" if that happens this summer. Who knows yet. Someday. Our list of "someday" things keeps growing: pigs, green house, shelves in my root cellar, fencing in part of the side yard & field for the dogs. It just seems like more important things keep popping up: new brakes on the car or truck, new tires, back surgery, broken arm on a little girl, school. At least we have a plan and are working toward it. So... April Showers/blizzards bring something.... that is just yet to be determined. Happy Spring all.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-21460054324758342302014-02-28T12:54:00.000-06:002014-02-28T13:16:52.367-06:00Will Winter End?This is a question that my kids ask me on a daily basis. I also believe that the chickens are also asking this every time I stick my head in the coop. I answer my kids, "Yes, it will end." They ask "When?" I say "June!" I hope that it ends much earlier then June, but this way I have a pretty strong feeling that I won't be letting them down.

Adin is in the middle, the other two boys are my nephews.

Some things that we have been doing to keep us entertained with all this snow (when there isn't Arctic Temps blowing) is teaching the kids to cross country ski and snowshoe. My sister brought down some smaller skis that the boys don't fit into any more and a pair that is just too big for them jet. The kids love them, especially Adin. Every chance he has gotten since January 25 he has been skiing. He even skied in Ashland's Book It (the kid's version of the Book Across The Bay.) While the Olympics were on, we watched every cross country ski race and biathlon that was on. Ole Einar Bjorndalen from Norway became a favorite in our house. I think Adin may become a future bi-athlete. The girls are getting pretty good also. We just have to switch between skiing and snow showing with them. I tried to break out my old old old skis and I need different boots. I have decided that snow shoeing is more my style with my weak right ankle, much harder to roll the ankle with snow shoes.

There has also been lots of sledding, shoveling and snow-blowing/plowing. We are running out of room.

We have also been enjoying some snuggle time with the 3 beagle ladies. No bunny hunting this year, we would loose these 3 girls in the snow.
I have found my self on Pinterest more often looking at gardeny things. I NEED to get my hands in the soil. Soon I'll be able to start some seeds and pray the cat doesn't make a mess. He can be trouble. Here is a happy summer garden picture to warm us all up. Hope it helps. We have much to much snow and we still have about 3/4 of the syrup that we canned last year left. Time to give the trees a year off, they deserve it after this winter. Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-11320327587280029832014-01-10T13:48:00.000-06:002014-01-10T13:48:35.998-06:00The Chicken SagaIt seems as though when ever updating our laying hens, comes into conversation there is a soft hearted 7 year old that bursts into tears and says "Not Cricket." He has a special bond with this one. She was one of the first and fell asleep in Adin's hands as a chick. :(

You see our girls are getting older and not producing they way they used to... they didn't produce a single thing for months this fall. Then I started talking about butchering all the girls but the 2 youngest and now, with the cold and everything I have eggs.

I don't think all of them are laying, but it is so hard to figure out which egg goes with which lady. I know Lucy's egg, she is a Leghorn = white egg. But then there are Lady Cluck and Red who are Buffs, Cricket who is a Dominique, Fancy Nancy who is an Australop and Cinnamon who we think is a Rhode Island Red (she was an "oops" in the first meat chick batch last summer - she was not a Cornish Cross). All of these ladies lay brown eggs. Miss Cricket has always laid these petite perfect eggs and we just haven't gotten one in a while and Cinnamon is just now starting, I think they are her's, giant eggs (we have only had 3 so far.)

In the winter we have only one of our two coops running as we only winter over 6-7 birds (Swamp the roo included) and use the 2nd in the summer for our meat chickens. But I am thinking of firing up the 2nd one a separating some out to see which lady is laying what or not at all. Then I can do some selective butchering and maybe get a few new pullets from a co-worker of my hubby and get some more egg production going.

We'll have to see. I keep telling the kids that this is what raising chickens is all about: food. It is it too much for him, I may have to seek retirement housing for Cricket at my sister's coop. Sis had a hard time putting any of her girls down and seeing as I took Swamp off her hands, maybe that will work. Hmmmm.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-5086185647954549492014-01-01T15:41:00.000-06:002014-02-28T13:02:45.484-06:00A Time of FirstsThe last few weeks have been a time of first's.
1. Adin had his first time of going deer hunting with us. (On my birthday - I was a happy mamma)

2. We had our first family Christmas cookie baking session with my Mom, Sister, one 2nd grader and 4 kindergartners. Lots of fun and flour all over my kitchen. I can't wait until next year.

3. My first adventure making Grandma Deloris Donuts. She said that they passed the test. :) Yay!

4. First time we celebrated Christmas at our house with everyone, instead of at my Mom and Dad's. Their house is in the process of being built. It would have been a bit chilly.

And hey, it is the first day of 2014.

I am hoping for many more firsts this year and a great year ahead. Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-1593093919954247302013-09-18T11:16:00.003-05:002013-09-18T11:16:26.524-05:00Tidbits #3Today is a tidbit day, nothing big, just tidbit thoughts.

1. Our fields are finally done and planted with Rye. We have the "Bee Field" on the north side of the barn, which will eventually be fenced in and grow more fruit trees, grape vines, sweet corn and clover. I will also be the home of our future bee hive and an area where our 3 pudgy beagles can run. On the south side of our house we have the "Park" as I call it because there are still some beautiful trees back there and it looks like a park. The Hubby has deemed it "South Park." I don't think so. This is our food plot for our resident deer and hopefully a few wild turkeys.

2. We are in round 2 of raising meat chicks. We are about 4 weeks into the process with about 3-4 more to go. Chicks are funny when they sleep. Last evening when I went to put them to bed, one was sleeping under the heat lamp with it's right leg and wing all stretched out, until it tipped over. :) It got up, shook it's head, turned in a circle and snuggled back in. Silly bird.

3. Trapping and hunting season is fast approaching. We are drying clean sand for trap sets. Climbing stands are attached to trees to be aired out. Rat poles are being cut and prepared, and the Hubby and Adin will be going to a wolf trapping class this weekend. Our Mighty Trapper got himself a wolf tag this year. Can I say jealous!

4. It is almost time to pick my last batch of green beans and can them away for winter. Next year I will have to plant twice as many beans. They are a favorite around this homestead.

5. We finally tested our soil and found out we do have acidic soil (which we knew, we just didn't know how acidic). In our 2 acre "Park" field, we had to put down 7 tons of lime. Holy cow! That is a lot of lime.

6. Did you know that crushed Ag lime is different that barn lime? Who knew. Not this farm girl, who's only experience with lime that I remember is putting down this very white and chalky lime in the barn. I was so confused when we got this tan colored stuff. If anyone actually knows the difference other than color, let me know, I am curious.

7. We have a new to us freezer. It came from my parents who are moving and do not need this big of a chest freezer any more. It is not a new freezer, as it is the one I remember having back on the farm in the garage for as long as I can remember. I don't care. Because of this wonderful freezer, I am now able to take all of the frozen food out of the chest freezer in the barn and move it to a food only freezer. Hubby's barn freezer can now be exclusively for taxidermy projects and trapping bait. This is one happy Mama. Simple pleasures.
We currently have 18 two week old meat chicks in one of our two coops. Four of those little ones got to make the trip to two preschools this year. The kids thought that it was cool to watch how they drink and there were lots of ews as the chickies pooped a lot because they were nervous. They weren't used to this much commotion and tried to all climb in my lap and up my arms to be safe. By the second stop, the chicks were old pros and didn't seem to mind the noise. They were even checking out the ants running around on the sidewalk and trying to be big kids. All the way home I didn't hear one peep. All 4 of them were sound asleep in the carrier.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-14853007737961761802013-06-26T18:17:00.000-05:002013-06-27T14:18:04.155-05:00Surgery RehabThis has been a LONG spring and start to summer. To start it all off, spring was really poky this year and than I discovered that I had a herniated disc and ended up having surgery 3 weeks ago. My poor garden is very green because of it. Green because it is covered in weeds. Taking it slow is really hard for me to do. I feel great, but have to remind myself that I still have restrictions. Restrictions are not good for a Northwoods girl. Don't bend at the waist or twist and turn wrong. Don't shoot the bow, because that is twisting and turning. Don't lift more than 20 lbs. (at least I am finally up to 20.) Don't mow the lawn (because with our lawn - lots of hills equals lots of twisting and leaning.) As you can tell, I am not one to sit still. It is even hard to sit still long enough to right on this blog. Well, off I go to do some rehab for my foot/back.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-10172494052543693442013-04-25T10:03:00.001-05:002013-04-25T10:03:19.736-05:00Tidbits #2Today is a tidbit day, nothing big, just tidbit thoughts.

1. Starting to wonder if we will need tip-ups or a boat for fishing opener in a week and a half. Who knows? This is by far the latest that there has been ice on Lake 26 in a really LONG time.

2. Chickens with spring fever is not a good thing. They are crabby, don't like the snow, and scold me whenever I try and take the few eggs that they are laying. Thank goodness we have Lucy, or ever faithful Leghorn.

3. You know that spring needs to get here when you tell your kids to go out and play and they look at you and say "Mom we are so over snow!" Ouch! Bring on the bike riding weather.

4. I have been dealing with a sprained ankle and nerve damage/pain and no dorsal flexion in my right foot for over a month now. Found out I have a herniated right L5 disk and may need surgery after I finish my spring semester finals. Yuck! What a way to start summer.
What is up with this Wisconsin weather? It is the end of April and we still have tons of snow. Hopefully that will be ending this weekend as it is "predicted" to reach 70 degrees. We'll see.

Sugaring has been going well the last few weeks. We are over our 70 gallons of sap collected (we lost count) but we have 12 pints of syrup canned already and 24+ gallons yet to boil down. That should be enough to last us another 2 years. :)

I am so glad that I have not started my seeds yet. By the time that the ground gets to a place were I can actually plant out the seedlings they would be too long and gangly. I will be starting my seeds this weekend I believe. I can't wait to get my hand dirty in the garden and my chickies can wait to get outside without snow. They are all a bit crabby.

Well off to school I go - I have less than one month left of this semester. I have loved it. Wishing you all a bright and sunny snow melting day.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-17257322114503438622013-03-02T12:58:00.001-06:002013-03-02T12:58:06.512-06:00Sugaring Time Is HereThings are warming up. We are starting to see day time temps up above the freezing level and night time temps are still below freezing. What does this mean? Well, it is time to dust off the rubber mallet, taps and buckets. I am going to tap some Maple trees this afternoon.

Last spring sprung really fast and we totally missed sugaring season here in the northwoods. Seeing has how we just opened out last pint jar of syrup from 2011, we need a good sweet season. I am hoping to get at least 70 gallons of sap this year if not more. We will just have to see what out 8 taps will do.

Off to the woods I go.
I will keep you all updated on the flow.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-28352152046211638152013-02-16T12:48:00.000-06:002013-03-02T12:49:58.773-06:00How You Know You Live With A TrapperHow you know you live with a trapper.
1. You catch random wifts of "beaver" as you pass the hooks that your "Trapper" hangs his outside clothes on.
2. The door knobs of the barn and the steering wheel of the truck are a little slippery with beaver grease.
3. You have happy chickens who get a beaver carcass as a big treat in their run.
4. Your hubby has a treasured ice chisel. Heaven help us if it ever got lost.
5. You know the difference between a conibear and leg hold trap.
6. You always know what is good ice and what is bad ice.
7. There are Ziploc baggies of ? in the freezer. Oh yeah, it is just bait.
8. The aroma of the Fur Shed in town doesn't offend you.
9. Your kids and nephews like to go beaver and rat "hunting".
10. Your trapper gets a bit stir crazy when there is just too much ice to chop so you are waiting for things to warm up and the ice to thin out.Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-74176453191616429712012-12-29T12:07:00.001-06:002012-12-29T12:07:21.799-06:00Bunny HuntingWell yesterday was a first for some members of our family, we went bunny hunting, all of us. Last year Scott and Adin took Freya out on her maiden hunt, just once.

We got a call from a good friend who hunts rabbits to see if Scott wanted to go and we all went, 2 adults, 3 kids and 3 beagles. I had never done this before, but I was so excited to go. Shayna did great. She was in the heat of the chase with Ben (our friend's beagle) barking up a storm when they found a fresh track. Freya followed and so did Nikki somewhat. I think that they were in it for the love. Every time Nikki saw the girls she would come for love. Goofy dog.

In the end, Scott got 2 cottontails and I got one. We got a total of 5 in our group. Now we are aging them much like we do our deer to tenderize the meat. I look forward to trying rabbit for the first time. Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-35963596967875777782012-10-08T17:26:00.000-05:002012-10-08T17:26:37.478-05:004 More DaysThis Saturday I am walking/running the Whistlestop Half Marathon in Ashland with my sister. I am very excited to do this, even though I am no where near as ready as I was hoping to be. That is ok, I will cross that finish line, come hell or high water.

I decided to do this to get more "in shape". Which that thought brings me back to days of old when I worked on summer staff at camp and we were playing an all camp game and I over heard a conversation between a camper and a counselor after the counselor tagged the camper. It went something like this...
Camper: "No fair! You are in shape."
Counselor: "Round is a shape!"
Yes Round is a shape. One I was hoping to shrink. That little incident a while back, leading to the drowning of a little girl threw me off my plan. Well, plan or not, T minus 4 days!

Sis and I already decided that we are going to do it again next year and we haven't even started the race yet. We'll see what happens comes Saturday afternoon, but I am guessing we will do it again. Us "Klevgard Girls" can be pretty darn stubborn at times. ;)Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521618366442002823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6197046127135530517.post-67628861379996409342012-10-05T10:21:00.002-05:002012-10-05T11:26:08.438-05:00TidbitsToday is a tidbit day, nothing big, just tidbit thoughts.
We have never had an egg that small from a Buff before and we all thought it was super cute. A wonderful lady over at A Farmish Kind Of Life and The Hmmm...schooling Mom did an experiment with some different sized eggs that they had on their farm. I may just have to try this also.

3. You know it is going to be a rough day when you dump water on your pants and shoe as you are refilling the chicken's water in the morning.

4. I still need to put the kid's pool away, but today may not be the best day for it, as it might just turn into a hang glider and who knows where I will end up. That wind is a whipping out there.

5. When chickens need more protein to help them regrow feathers, feed them beaver. That is if you just happen to have some beaver handy. They love it!
